This is short video I made for Friday 11th October. It’s not the video I wanted to post. I had been waiting for this day for a few months anticipating that Greta would win the Nobel Peace Prize and planned to post it to raise the spirits of all the Extinction Rebellion protesters in London who were sleep out in the rain.
As it turned out, about 15 seconds after the Nobel Prize announcement at 10am I realised it wasn’t to be. The prize was awarded instead to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali “for his efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation, and in particular for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea.”
So after a short edit, I created this version instead. (The slideshare with the quotes is below if you want to use any of them).
A truly worthy winner, but it stung a bit personally being as invested as I am in climate activism and as a fan of Greta. So I edited my GIF, took out any reference to the Nobel Prize and posted this with an edit of a brilliant remix Fat Boy Slim dropped at one of his UK shows this week.
